Goon Desert is the brother to the Fisher King and appears in the third continuation to Perceval (romance). The lord of the Wasteland, Goon was besieged by Espinogres and Partinal. Partinal killed Goon with the Grail Sword, and the blade shattered. Shards of the blade injured the Fisher King, who could not be healed until his brother's death was avenged. Percival saw Goon's body resting on a bier, and eventually slew Partinal to avenge him.
This is similar to an episode in Peredur (romance) where Peredur sees his murdered cousin's head floating in a dish.
